Experience area Merano and surroundings
Merano, in South Tyrol, is located on the southern side of the Alps. The spa town of Merano has abandoned its once slightly dusty charm and is now modern, cosmopolitan and lively. Throughout the year a mild climate prevails, the flowering gardens contrast with the snowy peaks. The culture is shaped by German and Italian influences, which finds its expression in everyday life as well as in eating and drinking. Merano and the surrounding villages and valleys offer many different landscapes in a very small space. Each place and each valley has its own specific character. While in Merano the first blossoms already break out in March, the mountains of Val Passiria and Val d'Ultimo are still under a soft blanket of snow. The farming traditions of the villages convey a sense of independence and belonging, while the city of Merano is rich in contemporary museums, modern spas, a botanical garden, shops and restaurants with international charm. The leisure opportunities are as varied as the entire region: hiking in the mountains, skiing in quiet valleys, enjoying typical dishes in restaurants and mountain huts, tasting local wines, relaxing in the spa or discovering nature.
